Hidden Fields

Personalise your forms and enhance your form's capabilities with Hidden Fields. Use them to easily include data in your form that is not visible to respondents. For example, you can pass information between fields, set default values, or automate form functionality without displaying it to users.

Use this widget to

  • Automatically capture the app version for in-app-embedded forms for accurate troubleshooting, eliminating user input errors.
  • Capture the webpage URL where a form is submitted to provide context for inquiries. This helps you understand user engagement without relying on analytics.
  • Display different questions or sections in a form based on Hidden Fields values, such as showing specific content to new vs. returning customers based on their purchase history.
  • Store essential data like customer IDs or campaign codes without asking for user input. This helps you seamlessly integrate forms with CRM systems and automate workflows.
  • Add security tokens or hash to ensure form submissions are authentic. This helps you maintain data integrity and security.

Hidden Fields example

The below example of the 'Hidden Fields' field type asks the user to register for a webinar and captures the marketing campaign that led the user to the form (by capturing the URL's UTM parameter values as Hidden Fields).

To do this, we have first created a Hidden Field with a custom pre-fill key of utm_source (not visible in the example form).

Then, when the URL has utm_source=twitter in it, for example, it will populate the hidden field with the custom pre-fill key of utm_source. That value can then be used elsewhere in the form, in Custom Emails or Custom PDFs, Dynamic Success Pages, or sent to another service through integration.
