What does "unlimited" mean?

Unlimited means there's no cap you'll hit doing normal work. There is no quota to watch and no overage bill.

We do apply a fair use policy so that one account can't degrade the service for everyone else. In practice we'll get in touch if you're consistently over limits. A few inconsistent overages are still within fair use.

How much does Paperform cost?

Paperform has four plans: Free, Pro, Business and Enterprise. Paid plans start at $49/month for Pro billed annually, Business is $124/month, and Enterprise is quoted to your requirements.

The free plan is for individuals and small teams looking for the simplest way to create forms and workflows. Pro is for operators who need flexible, branded forms and flows at scale. Business and Enterprise are built for the same work under more pressure, adding robust compliance measures and security support.

Every plan includes all three products: our form builder, our eSignature solution (Papersign) and our workflow manager (Stepper). They work together as one platform, from one dashboard.

What's included in every plan?

Every Paperform plan, including the free plan, includes all three products: Paperform for forms, Papersign for e-signatures, and Stepper for workflow automation. There's nothing to add on and nothing to buy separately. One account, one subscription, one dashboard for your forms, contracts and workflows.

What changes between plans is how much you can do: how many submissions you take, how many documents you get signed, how many workflow steps you run, and which controls you get around branding, domains, security and permissions.

Does Paperform have a free plan?

Yes! Paperform has a completely free plan for individuals and small teams who are looking for the simplest way to create forms and workflows. It's free permanently, not a trial that runs out.

When you first sign up you'll start on a 7-day free trial of the Pro plan, but you can switch to the free plan at any time on the billing page.

Is there a trial period for paid plans?

Yes. Every paid Paperform plan comes with a 7-day free trial, and no credit card is needed to start one.

New accounts begin on a Pro trial automatically.

If 7 days isn't long enough to evaluate it properly, ask us at support@paperform.co. We can extend trials on Business, and Enterprise trials can run to a custom length agreed with you. Evaluating properly usually takes longer when other people have to sign off on it, and that's fine.

Who is the Free plan suitable for?

The Paperform Free plan is for individuals and small teams looking for the simplest way to create forms, signatures and workflows, at a smaller scale.

It's a plan in its own right rather than a trial: every paid plan comes with its own free trial if you're evaluating one of those.

Who is the Pro plan suitable for?

Paperform Pro, at $49/month billed annually, suits a team running their own work. It covers branded forms and flows at scale, your own custom domain, and no Paperform branding.

Who is the Business plan suitable for?

Paperform Business, at $124/month billed annually, is where most teams land once other people get involved. It adds 10 workspaces for brands or clients, SSO, enforced 2FA, the Business API, and procurement-friendly billing by invoice or purchase order.

Who is the Enterprise plan suitable for?

The Paperform Enterprise plan is for the requirements you don't get to choose: data residency in the EU or Australia, SLAs, audit trails, custom roles and a dedicated CSM. It's quoted to your requirements rather than listed.

What if my plan isn't listed here?

What are Paperform add-ons?

Paperform add-ons are optional extras you pay a fixed monthly fee for, on top of your plan. A custom domain is $20/month, for example.

Add-ons give you more of a feature rather than a higher usage limit. If it's usage you need more of, that's either a bigger plan or a higher credit limit.

How do Paperform credits work?

Credits cover your automations, and they work as a monthly limit that renews each month. Pro includes 20,000 credits a month. They are a limit rather than a balance, so they don't carry over from one month to the next.

If your workflows need more than your plan includes, you can raise your monthly credit limit for an additional monthly charge.

What uses automation credits?

Most things that cost a credit cost exactly one, and plenty of things cost nothing at all.

On the forms side, one credit covers each email sent because of a submission, whether that's a notification to you or an autoresponder to the person who filled it in. The same goes for each successful direct integration, and each appointment that reaches your connected calendar. You're only charged when the action completes, so a failed integration costs nothing, and account emails like password resets never count. Webhooks are free.

Workflows work differently. Most steps cost no credits at all. They draw on your monthly step allowance instead, which is 200 steps on Free and unlimited on every paid plan. Credits only come into it where something is being bought on your behalf:

Email steps cost 20 credits when sent through Paperform, or 1 credit if you connect your own email provider. AI steps cover generating text or images, reading text out of a document, and web search. They vary with the model and how much you send it. As a rough guide, $1 of AI usage is about 1,000 credits, and connecting your own AI account brings that down to roughly a tenth. X (Twitter) steps are priced per action.

Your plan includes 5,000 credits a month on Free, 20,000 on Pro and 100,000 on Business, renewing each month. Pro and Business can add more. If you run out, the automations that need credits pause until the limit renews or you raise it. Your forms keep working.

What's the difference between the Signature field and Papersign?

They solve different problems, and you get both on every plan.

The Signature field is a question you add to a form, like any other. Someone draws their name and it's captured alongside the rest of their answers. It's unlimited on every plan and doesn't count towards anything.

Papersign produces a signed document. You upload a PDF or write the contract in Papersign, place signature and input fields anywhere in it, send it for signing, and track it to completion. Each finished document comes with a signing certificate and audit trail, built to meet the technical requirements of the ESIGN Act, eIDAS and the other eSignature regimes. That's what the signed document allowance on your plan counts.

In short: use the field when a signature is one answer among many, and Papersign when the document itself is the thing being agreed to.

What happens if I go over my limits?

We will notify you if you are approaching your limits. You can upgrade your plan at any time to avoid any disruption to your service. Additionally, on the billing page you may also be able to purchase addons or credits for your current plan to extend your limits.

If you go over your limits and don't upgrade, your forms or features may stop working until you update your billing.

What counts as a submission?

A submission is a completed form response. Partial responses, where someone starts filling in a form and doesn't finish, don't count towards your submission limit.

So a form that gets abandoned halfway costs you nothing, and you can still see the partial data while it's retained.

How do seats work?

Seats are unlimited on every Paperform plan, and they're shared across all three products. One person counts once whether they're building forms, sending documents for signature, or maintaining a workflow. You're not paying per product or per tool.

That means you can bring in the people who actually own the process without it changing your bill.

Can I manage multiple brands or clients in one account?

Yes. Business includes 10 workspaces and Enterprise is unlimited. Workspaces let you keep separate brands, clients or departments apart, each with their own forms, branding and access, while you administer them from one account.

Free and Pro run on a single shared workspace, which is usually the point at which multi-brand teams move to Business.

Do you support invoicing and purchase orders?

Yes. Paperform supports invoicing, purchase orders and bank transfer on the Business and Enterprise plans. If your finance team needs to raise a purchase order, pay by invoice, or work to their own procurement process, we can work with that. Talk to us at support@paperform.co and we'll set it up.

Free and Pro are card only, billed monthly or annually.

What happens to my data if I downgrade or cancel?

Nothing is deleted the moment a plan changes, and you control what gets removed. These are Paperform's default retention behaviors:

Partial (unsubmitted) form data is deleted after 30 days.
Data you delete yourself is purged after 25 days.
You control what data is deleted.
Data associated with a canceled account is queued for deletion and purging after 12 months.

If your retention or deletion requirements are different, and for a lot of regulated teams they are, those timelines can be negotiated on Enterprise. Talk to us at support@paperform.co.

Do you charge extra fees on payments?

No. Paperform charges no transaction fees and takes no cut of what you sell. You pay your payment processor's fees and nothing on top of them.

Payments are available on every plan, powered by Stripe, Square, Braintree and PayPal Business, including Google Pay and the other methods those providers support.

Do you offer annual billing, and how much does it save?

Yes. Paying annually saves roughly 17% against month-to-month: Paperform Pro is $49/month billed annually versus $59 month-to-month, and Business is $124/month billed annually versus $149.

You can switch between monthly and annual billing at any time on the billing page.

Do you offer nonprofit discounts?

Yes. Paperform offers nonprofit discounts on the Business and Enterprise plans.

How do upgrades and downgrades work?

Upgrades take effect immediately. You get the higher limits straight away, and on an annual plan you're only charged for the months left in your term.

Downgrades take effect at your next renewal rather than immediately, so you keep what you've already paid for until then instead of losing it mid-term.

What currency is your pricing in, and does it include tax?

All Paperform pricing is in US dollars (USD), and prices exclude sales taxes. Any tax that applies in your country is added at checkout.

Is Paperform secure?

Yes, Paperform is SOC 2, Type II and GDPR compliant, undergoes annual pen testing, and has robust security measures. To learn more about security, including best practices and controls, see our Trust Center.

Can you complete our vendor security questionnaire?

Yes. Paperform completes vendor security questionnaires on the Business and Enterprise plans. Send it over and we'll complete it, including the questions where the honest answer is "not yet."

Most of what reviewers ask for is already published in our Trust Center, so it's often worth forwarding that first. It can clear a review without anyone having to fill anything in. If you're working to a deadline, tell us when you need it by at support@paperform.co.

Where is my data stored?

Paperform stores your data in the United States by default, and Enterprise plans can be hosted in the EU or Australia instead, which is usually what's needed when data residency is written into a contract or a privacy review.

Note that Paperform is not HIPAA compliant and doesn't sign Business Associate Agreements today. HIPAA support is planned for the first half of 2027. If you're handling protected health information, talk to us at support@paperform.co before you commit.
