Learn how to enable or disable public file access for your team’s Paperform files, including uploaded files, signatures, and Custom PDFs.
What is public file access?
By default, your team’s Paperform files are private. Files can only be accessed with a valid, signed URL or by a logged-in user with access to your team.
Public file access allows anyone with the file link to access your team’s Paperform files. This setting applies to files uploaded through your forms (e.g. file and image uploads, signatures), and Custom PDFs generated upon submission.
How to enable public file access
To enable public file access for your Paperform team:
- Go to Account Settings.
- Select Security & Password.
- Scroll to Paperform file storage access.
- Click Enable public file access.
Once enabled, anyone with the link can access your team’s Paperform files.
How to disable public file access
To return to private file storage, go to Account Settings > Security & Password, as above, and click Disable public file access.
Once disabled, your team’s files can only be accessed with a valid, signed URL or by logged-in users with access to your team.
Should I enable public file access?
Public file access allows anyone with a file URL to access the file. Whether public file access is right for your team depends on your security, compliance, and file-sharing requirements.
