A straw poll (also called straw vote or straw ballot) is a term for an unofficial or an informal vote on something. It's used to show people's opinion on something, and always includes just one question with multiple response options. But you don't have to be a politician to run a straw poll. You might, for example, use it to quickly collect opinions of your friends, colleagues, or family members on a particular matter.
